Well. It has been a while.

Besides still planting, I have to admit I have felt weighed down by the woes of the world in the past weeks. I have not had enough mental energy to problem solve regarding my fiber UFOs. I’m not faulting myself for that. I still have been busy but with relatively mindless occupations that involve fiber.

Va Va Voom rolags

I have been working on this fleece, Va Va Voom, 2012, a White Fish Bay Farm stellar corriedale. The first two large skeins that I spun still had a lot of lanolin in them and took much more effort to card into rolags and even draft. This yarn was spun using the English long draw method. Nevertheless, the yarn is quite lovely.

Lanolin skeins, not yet washed

Yesterday morning I rewashed the remainder of the fleece using hot water and Orvus paste, and it feels soft and very clean. It will be much easier to work with I think.

I have progressed on my striped tank to the point where I need to figure out the short row shaping.

Because I just needed to do some mindless anxiety-assuaging knitting, I made myself some new dishcloths. I always keep around some balls of Sugar and Cream so I can knit dishcloths. Where will I get that now with Ben Franklin gone?

  1. That is lovely yarn! Yes, what do we do as the dime stores disappear? There is still one in the small town that we can travel thru on the way to the cabin. I love rambling around in there. Something else for the PV (post-vaccine) list!
