It’s been a long time since I have written. Time to just start over with what I am currently doing.

Spinning: Just finished up a fleece of unknown origin. It is a soft, fine dark brown fleece, probably from New South Wales. It was a pleasure to spin and ply. I think I may weave with it. Now to pick out another fiber to spin. My best spinning time is in the early morning when the sun shines in my east window, and I can see my drafting triangle in natural light.

Knitting: nothing happening currently because I am consumed with weaving. My last finished project was a sweater from John Arbon’s Falkland Merino wool and the Geiger pattern from Norah Gaughan. What a pleasure that was to knit! I still have to wet finish it, but here are some photos:

Now to weaving: I have expanded my capabilities and understanding considerably in the past year of concentrated study. I am now a member of the Gallery in Marquette, an excellent group of 16 artists who run a brick and mortar fine arts shop downtown. This is the perfect time for me to push myself creatively and productively to produce new work from my prodigious stash.

Current work: bookmarks on a rainbow warp for Pride Month, woven with drafts 726-728 from Strickler.

Also an eight shaft overshot for runners.

And a 4 shaft cottolin warp for table mats and runners.

I have also been weaving on an old warp on my rigid heddle loom exploring some hand manipulated techniques.

And I have picked up my inkle loom again. It’s a great activity for me when I am Gallery sitting which I now do 12 hours per month.
